Welcome to

Cairns TAFE Community
Child Care Centre

Grow. Learn. Prosper.

The Cairns TAFE Community Child Care Centre is a unique learning environment for your family. Established in 1993 as a small non-profit community based centre, located on the Tropical Far North Queensland TAFE grounds; we provide care for TAFE students, teachers and the general community.

The centre is managed by a Parent Management Committee giving families the opportunity to take part in moulding their child’s early education experience. We are licensed for 44 children a day and pride ourselves on the small family feel of our service, our long term staff and the families that stay with us from the Nursery to the Kindy room, often with many siblings to follow.

We have three large rooms, providing care for children aged 0 – 5 years.  Our 3-5 year old Kindy room employs an Early childhood Teacher and implements the QLD funded Kindergarten Program for children in the year before school. Our main focus is to provide high quality education and care programs that help children achieve individual learning outcomes.

Fresh, healthy meals are prepared daily in our onsite kitchen by our cook.

View our Parent Management Committee page for more details on what a non-profit community based centre means for you and your family.

Our Approach

Our centre is a connection point for families and other important people in children’s lives. Everyone is encouraged to be a part of our community and contribute to all aspects of the centre.  Management and Educators are committed to building genuine partnerships with families and others; collaborating, respecting, and valuing their views and ideas to ensure the best outcomes for all children.

What Parents Think

It’s a pleasure for our family to be part of the cairns TAFE community child care village. The educators are kind, caring, approachable and responsive to children and family’s unique needs and identities. It has a homely feel with nourishing meals that put my dinners to shame and classrooms that feel like an inspiring Play School set. It’s also heartwarming to see the interaction and mentorship between different ages during combined room play times.
